As if the Greek economy wasn’t already in enough trouble, latest figures show a drop in the numbers of tourists wanting to visit islands like Crete after news coverage of the two day strike this week which brought the country to a standstill.

Crete History And Music

A fabulous travel article has been published in The Guardian and reviews the Greek islands, and which are best for beaches, family holidays, etc.

Crete falls into two of the categories – for history, starting five thousand years ago with the Minoans and what can be seen of the past at Gournia and Phaistos. It goes onto the Middle Ages and in a seperate section mentions Crete again for her music.

In this section Lyra – folk music – is explained and where it can be enjoyed by those on their holidays in Crete, Chania being one place for example.
